Why Does Dale Arden Cause Flash to Be Captured in Vultan's Throne Room?
At one point, Flash has Ming at swordpoint in Vultan's throne room, with Vultan equally helpless. Then Dale Arden rushes across to him, and she appears to pull him away from Ming, and then to pin one of his arms, while Vultan or a guard grabs the other one, stripping him of his weapon and his advantage, thus dooming him and his companion, the Prince, to ordeal by battle. Why does she do this?
I considered the possibility that she might not have intended to disable him, but was merely rushing across to hug him and get as far away from Ming and Vultan as possible, under his protection. In that case, his seizure would have been an unintentional result of her emotional action, and merely a blunder on her part. But that doesn't fit with her action; she isn't merely desperately embracing him, but actually holding one arm while Vultan or a guard grabs his other arm; she is co-operating in immobilizing and disarming Flash!
Another possibility is that she thought he would never get out of the throne room alive, because of all the guards, and she thought it best to strip him of his sword, rendering him helpless, in hopes that Ming and Vultan would be merciful and forgive his escape attempt.
Either way, some line of dialogue should have been given to her, to make her motivation clearer. The scene as it stands is poorly conceived, poorly executed, or both.
Does anyone have any ideas what might have been intended?
