Remake Would Not Work
It would not be as good as the fist film, and one reason why is Hollywood rarely shows any good guy/A list actors finding romance from a divorce. The other reason is there are few top actresses that want to be portrayed as a Bit&& among today,s heroic women figures in film.
For some reason Hollywood stays away from bad women characters whom come off as very unpleasant to other women. This was a norm for Betty Davis, Barbara Stanwyck and certain other actresses back in those days.
The same can go for Hollywood's top male actors, for example, you will never see Tom Cruise or Harrison Ford steal the wife away from good husband. They just won't do it. {Remember the "Bridges of Madison County"] The original script was they ended up together, but Eastwood intervened and did not want to play the character as a man whom got the gal from a plain and ordinary good guy whom did not no how to be a romantic. Making the film click from both sides of the genders was his goal. It would not have been well received by his Male fan base that is mostly made up of guys just like the husband he would have replaced. A woman leaving an abusive or workaholic man is the norm. It is politically correct and safe for the actors involved reputations on box office appeal.
