Animal Cruelty in this film !!!!

Whoever made this movie ought to be put in jail !!! The girl in this movie sticks soap down the dog's throat and then they let the dog run off into the woods and never even looked for the poor little thing. Lousy piece of crap movie !!!!

The little girl had to wash the dog's mouth out with soap because the dirty hound had uttered a swear word. If you listen carefully you can hear the dog call the late Mary Astor a "@%&$&$@#". I was appalled. I hope the soap was Lux. Lux always gave a girl's face a lovely silky sheen. Of course, Palmolive was good too and had an intoxicating fragrance. Ivory was OK but it dried my skin. Lava was great. Especially if you just emerged from a coal mine.

It's a MOVIE! It wasn't real soap. It's a MOVIE! The dog wasn't abused. It's a MOVIE! You are a bonehead. IT'S A MOVIE!

reply

Oh really? So if your own dog uttered profanities or cursed out Mary Astor under his breath, how would you respond? Huh? I think a little Lifebuoy liberally applied to his mouthal areas might do the pooch some good. Too many pets are undisciplined. That's why there's war and pestilence in the world. Sheesh! It can't be all Mary Astor's fault.

Looked like "stunt soap" (cheese?) to me!
The "foaming mouth" was obviously whipped cream.
I have a dog who DID eat some soap on her own after breaking in to my travel bag

But still, the dog ran off into the cold outdoors and nobody tried to find him. The bratty boy, who was kind of a lousy actor, stammered too much, said he guessed the dog, a small terrier type, must have reverted to his wolf ancestry and joined a pack.

I agree -- that particular part of the story line did not particularly appeal to me either. Given that everyone assumed he was rabid, I figure he was quietly hunted down and shot before he could bite anyone, probably even that same night.

Life's a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!
