Why so intent on saving the queen?

Ya know, the queen attempt to kill Autry and seemed to be entertaining thoughts of genocide against the surface dwellers? Seems strange that Gene Autry would go out of his way to try and rescue her. And before you say anything about Gene Autry being so noble that he'll strive to protect any life, even ones that tried to take his, keep this in mind; he sure didn't seem to give a rat's-ass about anyone else in the underground city.

I thought that he made a comment at one point or another about needing her help to get out of there.

Oh, that would make sense. I guess I missed it. Maybe the dog barked when that line was delivered or something.

Which version of it did you watch? The version that was edited down to movie form or the 12 part serial?

Okay. I thought that maybe the line didn't make the cut of the movie length cut. I didn't even know that it was a serial at first. I bought a cheap copy at Walmart several years ago, and I thought that it was the only way that it came out. More recently I found out about there being a 12 part serial version. Even this amazing resource website (which I always recommend to people) has a page about the 93 minute version: http://rateyourmusic.com/film/the_phantom_empire_f1/
