Sabotage

I always wondered if Spankys act was sabotaged as he entered the stage. Did the MC have the lighting set up with the dramatic spot light and then have the light stop following Spanky as he crosses the stage to have him fall in the darkness. Was it a way to get even at Mrs. MacFarland for being a Stage Mother or get back at Spanky for being a punk and disrespecting him. For the MC it was an "innocent" way to disrupt Spankys act and unknow to everyone it was the beginning of the end giving the gang an opening to disrupt and embarrass Spanky to the chagrin of Kitty who would later be totally embarrassed to the joy of the audience!
On the other side of the coin, did Kitty unwittily sabotage her son's act? Was it her order to have the dramatic spotlight shine on her talented son and his sparkly Roman uniform? So when the light didn't follow Spanky did the long long cape he was wearing because Kitty wanted an impressive dramatic entrance cause him to trip and get tangled up, yes----when he was sabotage by Kitty's dramatics and she didn't realize or ignored that her long long cape caused his fall, she told the MC he needed more light "to act" absolving her of any blame.
