I know Doug got testy the other day with Ralph but later he said he was sorry but I'd like to know what the other posters think of the Maltin -Bann review of "Beginner's Luck " Is anyone pro or con their work?

I'd also like to know what folks think of the Jeffery Alan Triggs article of the Comedic farce used in the Little rascals commidies.I know most people havn't read it but it has been discussed and I'd like to see if anyone agrees with the article or not or agrees with parts of it.

I'd also like to know if anyone agrees with the Dr.Charles White study or not??

The Maltin book i've read many times and I'm not a huge supporter of their "BL" review,generally it's OK but it's not as good as some of their other reviews of Rascals shorts.

The Triggs article I did read at some time in the past and it's chock full of a lot of 50 cent words and not real easy to read or understand.I general I do agree that the farce technique was used as a comedic tool and the humiliation of Spanky and then his mother and then her degrading is used as a comedic farce and I do agree that people love to see others humiliated and degraded-It does expalin alot about the interest in this short.

The Dr. White study well I don't know enough about it toay anything at all.

I think I wrote enough on Maltin so everyone knows how I feel.

Triggs,I think is pretty much a major hit with his theory.Certainly The viewer enjoys the suffering Spanky fight to try and win,watch the anguish on his Mother's face watching from the wings,then the mother saying enough is enough and try to stop the show.She's seen as a little haughty, alittle too wealthy a little to attractive(a little better than average) Spanky's mother in her attempt to end the humiliation of her son actually winds up getting it much worse her dress is yanked off her and there does her dignity too.She recieves much more of a humiliation than Spanky and finally the prop reduces Spanky's mother to someone who is degraded as everyone laffs at her.

I like the white study and find much a hit and the rest interesting( the adults don't have names ) and the like .
