HANDS

just to start something out there---when kittys dress gets ripped off and she drops to her knees where do her hands go?? are both hands covering her boobs or one on a breast and the other covering her kitty cat or both arms down the side of her body in defeat.

Great Question once again!

To be honest I always thought her arms went limp and were at her sides. However some years back one of the posters from this board pointed out you can clearly see her fingertips if you look at the shots of her kneeling on stage after the dress is gone and we are waiting for Spanky to pull the prop in front of her. When I saw this and thought about it, I realized Spanky's mother must have crossed at least one arm across her chest. In the day (1935) it would have been huge for a woman to be seen without her dress on. It would have been much worse than being seen nude today. The things about her after her dress is gone are she is still wearing her shoes, stockings, beret, slip and bra and her arm ( at least one arm ) is across her chest. Probably it would be natural for her to cross both arms across her chest. Maybe she moves one arm down to cover her crouch, but I would say it would be unlikely.

have to agree with Doug I think both her hands are crossed over her chest.

I know this has been debated sometime before. I always thought she was standing up. The prop was made to fit over someone's head that was standing I believe. Just my two cents guys

Well it seems we have a question here that we can't really answer. As none of us were actually there to tell the true story we can only guess at the correct answer. We can all just put our best educated guess out there. So far we've heard from Doug who is like the best authority on this subject I 've ever heard of and hen we have bigboy who is pretty much an expert too then we heard from CPS 617 who's pretty much just as good as any of these guys or any one else who posts on this board. For my 2 cents I say she's kneeling with her behind sitting on her heals with her hands crisscrossing her chest.

Thanks Steve for the kind words. I guess it can be debated over and over again and your right nobody really knows what she was doing standing or kneeling. Semper FI

I'm glad Steve that you said that Doug was the best expert on this subject that you've ever seen and that Bigboy is also an expert. Which is very true.
But it was great that you said that cps617 was also a very important piece of this board .He's always a regular poster and always has really good insight into this subject.

I guess my line of thinkng is that the Ritz theater was not a theater for kids but adults.Although all the acts during the show were all kids.I would say most props are made for adult bodies to be fitted to not children, so that is why I believe she is standing. Nobody knows for sure but loved the short either way.

I believe both arms are covering her cleavage.
