There is a picture in the photo section where Spanky's mom is being pulled up by the curtain hook. Her left knee is on the stage floor and her right leg is being pulled up. If you look at her left leg you can clearly see the top of her stocking. The only way to keep her stockings up is with a garter belt or it's connected to a girdle.

Yes, black seemed stockings,,,That is what the ladies wore pre pantihose..
The curtain raising scene you clearly see the straight seems running up her legs to her thighs..I have slowed it down to see her stocking tops.

Too bad they didn't let that scene run a few seconds longer, because we would have seen more than the top of her stockings!!!
