Annabella Smith & other observations

Watched this again on YouTube recently. What is that strange coat that Annabella is wearing? Its got some kind of furry thing in front. Weird. And then later on, we see that Pamela also has this bottom-of-a-triangle-type-thing on the front of her blouse on the top too. I guess that kind of thing was just fashionable at that time

If you had to guess where Annabella is from based on her accent, where would it be?

Hannay escapes on the train "THE FLYING SCOTSMAN", knowing the police have followed him to it (see scene where Hanney leaves London on this train after murder). Then at the first stop (at which the gentleman across from him says "Hello, what's this? Edinborough/Waverly" (although I haven't been able to find this place on Google maps, unless he actually said Edinburgh)), he gets out (after having read about the murder in the paper), walks over to a policeman to ask what the next stop is. Why? Then a bit later, the police are going through the train cars looking for him, perhaps because he just presented himself to that police officer.

When at the foreign agent's place (Professor Jordan), he says he doesn't know what to do with Hannay, but he offers to let him have the pistol to kill himself. Hannay should have agreed, took the pistol and then he could have either shot the Professor (and thus saved the secret from getting out, but then become a real murderer), or at least threatened to kill him if he didn't let him go.
