Does anyone knows if there is some edition of 'Of Human Bondage' on DVD format that contents subtitles in spanish? I saw online that exist around 4 or 5 editions of this movie, but none of them says anything about subtitles.

The DVD I rented had no subtitles at all. Usually I have English ones on during a movie because I have difficulty picking up all the dialogue.

But the only way to do it, is buying it online from Amazon.com, because in my country the videostores has available just a few classic movies. If I buy this one, and it has no subtitles, al least in english, I probably won't understand so much about it, because my english is quite poor!

Supongo que este post interesa únicamente a hispanoparlantes, así que lo escribiré en español.
En España tenemos el dvd de Of human bondage (Cautivo del deseo) desde el pasado diciembre. Contiene subtitulos en español, además de un horroroso doblaje.

Creía que habías visto esta película. Una gran actuación de Bette, aunque la historia es muy aburrida. Para la época fue impactante, pero ahora no sorprende. Lo mejor es la bronca del final, que histérica!
Si no te apetece comprar el dvd (recuerda que es zona 2) también puedes descargar los subtítulos de internet, y con un sencillo programa podrás visualizarlos mientras ves la película.

No, tristemente aún no tuve la suerte de ver la peli, solo sus escenas más famosas, en las que se destacan las feroces rabietas de Bette, así como su escena de muerte. Pero honestamente ardo en ganas de verla en su totalidad.
Bueno, al menos ahora sé que en alguna parte del globo sí existen copias subtituladas, aunque estén muy lejos de acá. De hecho, sí que me interesaría comprar el DVD, pero si con enorme esfuerzo consigo los de la zona 1, se que es virtualmente imposible hacerme con uno de la zona 2 [te lo digo por experiencia].
En fin, no pierdo las esperanzas de ir alguna vez hasta la Madre Patria -uno de mis más caros anhelos en esta vida- y así segurísimo me compro el material [aunque espero que los subtitulos vengan en tamaño considerable, ya que los de la zona 1 nos llegan cada vez más microscópicos].

Está disponible en la tienda online de dvdgo.com de España, entiendo que se puede hacer un pedido internacional, busca por Cautivo de Deseo. Tiene subtitulos y tbn viene con pista doblada en castellano.

If you live in US, you won't have any problem to get it! There are A LOT of editions of this wonderful movie on DVD!

The problem of the A LOT of editions of this movie is there are no wonderful editions. This movie for some reason fell into Public Domain (Not all RKO are owned by Warner Brothers.) and thus every cheapie company can rush a copy on the market. They have bad sound and poor picture and if the movie is bad enough shape it is not even worth $1. (The DVD source tend to be a videotape of a bad copy.) I believe you might have the Mae West Universal collection and that was a fair copy that does not deter from the enjoyment of the movie. These copies Of Human Bondage are a hack job.
I don't know if Warners even has a "clean" copy with their vast library and they would great for even a fair copy on the market. It was great getting Royal Wedding with the colors right.
I totally agree. The movie is just awesome, a masterpiece, and still deserves a decent DVD copy to be released some time (I mean, with extras and a nice restoration).
