We never do find out exactly what happened to him. You assume he was banished to Bogeyland, even though we don't see it, do we? We see the bogeymen being chased out, but I don't recall seeing him. There is no indication that he was killed or even seriously injured. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if he tried something again, someday.

Barnaby escapes into the Alphabet House. The blocks of the alphabet house start to collapse. Barnabys is pinned at both sides by the blocks R & T , then the A block falls on his head.. He is then pinned in the blocks R ,A, T which spells RAT.. as for the saying in the movie Big Bait Catches Big Rat, and in the movie Barnaby is the RAT bad guy :)
