Tom Tom and Bo Peep in Bogeyland

So, the Original 1934 Variety Review of "Babes in Toyland" reads the following...

"Felix Knight is the Tom, but not much in evidence until the close as the actual love making is discreetly soft pedaled."

Now, what the heck is that supposed to mean...? I always thought that "Go to Sleep" lullabye was a little odd, but could one seriously infer they were doing it in Bogeyland? lol. I guess I should get my head out of the gutter.

Understand, to "make love" back then commonly meant the act of sweet-talking, eyelash-batting, serenading on a ukelele, that kind of thing. Of course, we might have only seen the 'cleaned up by the Hays Commission' version...

"serenading on a ukelele"

That just made my Christmas day.

And no, I don't think Tom Tom and Bo Peep got it on in Bogeyland. They slept together in the literal, not the figurative, sense.

"He's already attracted to her. Time and monotony will do the rest."

Of course, the appearance of the word 'the' before 'Tom' in that sentence could be a typo, and probably was just that. I don't think you should read anything into it.

The Little People in the dream.
