Mickey Mouse

Why does the mouse look similar to Mickey Mouse? Did Disney have anything to do with this movie?

We noticed the very same thing. And what the hell is in that costume - a monkey?

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

looked like a monkey to me.

I imagine Uncle Walt was pissed. Maybe that's why he remade it as Babes in Toyland (1961) with a fat comic and a thin comic lamely impersonating Laurel and Hardy--it's just too much to be coincidence.

Theres a remake!?!?!?

I'm sure it's a monkey. The Roach studio did something similar in a silent Our Gang film in which a monkey pulled the stuffing out of a Krazy Kat doll and crawled inside. It basically looked the same.

As far as Roach and Disney go - I read a long time ago that Roach got permission from Disney to use Mickey Mouse and the Three Little Pigs, as well as "Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf."

Also, how were they able to use "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" song.

That song was owned by Disney.

Did Hal Roach get permission?

Were he and Disney "just like that?" (Hold your fingers together)

I was always confused about that.
I didn't think this was Disney... and Mickey Mouse was in it... and a MONKEY played Mickey Mouse.

Hal Roach and Walt Disney were good friends, and it paid off for Roach in this picture. Roach asked to borrow the tune "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" from a Disney cartoon of the previous year, and Disney obliged.

One should look through "Trivia" once in a while.
