Elmer's Weapon of Choice

Why in the name of Ann Coulter does he use a balloon to knock out the boogeymen and Barnaby?

reply

Well, He's too little to go and one by one conk each of them on the head, sin't he? He has to get up there somehow, and back then there weren't too many other ways to do it.

The Sith Will Rise Again

reply

Ummmm...this movie is like rated G i dont think they would allow him hitting him on the head with a hammer now would they?

reply

Why not? Ollie got his hand snapped by a mousetrap, Barnaby was hit with a mallet, so what's stopping little Elmer from using a real bludgeon?

And now for something completely digital...

reply

They wouldnt want little kids to play with hammers and smack each other on the head with them.

reply

Funny how poor Barnaby really gets pained by the balloon busting!

I'm sure he just grabbed the closest thing he could find since his chainsaw was in the shop.

There is no problem between us that can't be solved by your departure

What he had was a inflated pig bladder. This had no connection with elmer being a pig. This was a prop that was used in burlesque as a club or hammer or whatever for bopping someone on the head because it made a neat sound when it made contact.
It probably sounded better on a live stage than it did in the movie.
I read about it in a book called " This was Burlesque" I'm sorry but I can't remember the author's name.

To the person who said something about this movie being rated G, back when the movie was made they didn't have the ratings system we have now. They had the Hays Code which didn't have levels of morality based on the age of the people watching it. Basically, all movies were the same rating.

I DIED IN EPISODE 81!!!

reply

Ha! Can you imagine what it would be like nowadays? Probably multiple blows with an axe and the eeent eeent eeent sound from psycho as they show the fiendish grin on Elmer's face with blood splattering on it.

reply

Just imagine Quentin Tarantino remaking this movie.
