'Four pairs of pants and lives in Philadelphia'?

Rufus T. Firefly: Now, what is it that has four pairs of pants, lives in Philadelphia, and it never rains but it pours?
Chicolini: Atsa good one. I give you three guesses.
Rufus T. Firefly: Now let me see. Has four pair of pants, lives in Philadelphia... Is it male or female?
Chicolini: No, I no think so.
Rufus T. Firefly: Is he dead?
Chicolini: Who?
Rufus T. Firefly: I don't know. I give up.
Chicolini: I give up, too.

I think this is one of the funniest scenes in movie history. Does anyone know if that was originally an existing joke that they've butchered, or is it just some nonsense that they cooked up?

"I think this is one of the funniest scenes in movie history."

And then you saw your second movie.

reply

Wow, you actually took the time to just insult a writer here rather than contribute something of intellectual effort.

What a piece of garbage you are.

I love that joke! I have no idea if it's original nonsense or if it was based on an original joke. It certainly sounds like nonsense.

From my research, and understanding of humor, there's no joke that this is based on. It's Philadelphia only because it seems more funny than Boston or Chicago. Why? Why "42"?
