other Marx Bros. films?

You can't go wrong watching HORSE FEATHERS and A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, the two films that surround DUCK SOUP (these three are the Marx Brothers' best in my opinion).

Their first two films (THE COCOANUTS and ANIMAL CRACKERS) were based on stage plays and feel stagebound, although the writing and performances (from the brothers, anyway) are very good. MONKEY BUSINESS has a lot of great moments, but everything comes together perfectly with HORSE FEATHERS. They more or less keep up this pace through A DAY AT THE RACES before the films start to go downhill. Ignore 1949's LOVE HAPPY (not a true Marx effort even though the three brothers all appear) and you'll find that they never made a truly awful film together, only stronger and weaker ones.

All of them! My favorite is DUCK SOUP, my least favorite is ROOM SERVICE. But everyone should come to his or her own conclusions / rankings.

My 3 favorites are Duck Soup, A Night at the Opera, and Animal Crackers. I have probably seen the first two a hundred times each. Look for the contract scene in A Night at the Opera betw. Groucho and Chico. Never fails to make me laugh.
