Who Would You Choose?
If you had to choose between Tom & George (and really make a choice!), which man would you have chosen?

That is really tough, but George, I guess. Idk, though! Hard decision, for sure.
shareTom, since you could have a falling out with him and he, unlike George, would be unlikely to break things. lol
shareLol, I love your logic! I think I'd have to choose George, as I'm a sucker for the tall ones.
I do believe this particular dilemma is one I wouldn't mind having though!
I need my 1987 DG20 Casio electric guitar set to mandolin, yeah...
Tom was the smarter of the 2. btw, did anyone notice that Frederic March looks and talks a lot like a young Gene Kelly? I am so used to seeing him in his mature roles, that watching him young was very Kelly-esque

That is a great point. Although physically, I thought George would have had me before my mind could choose Tom (my smart choice as the relationship type, more than the impulsive and emotional George), in reality there probably would be plenty of time to get to know Tom first, and his intellect would make him much sexier in my eyes! At least that's what's happened throughout my life. George's French is awfully sexy tho....Gary Cooper was so cute before the cowboy films...wearing a tux....I want to jump right into this movie!
I see the Gene Kelly similarity. Gene Kelly has that velvet voice and smooth glide to his dancing that takes over his persona on screen so completely, no one can resemble him very deeply.
March's hair seems darker in this movie, and combined with the dark suit and black tuxedo, he cuts a more dashing figure than I remember in other films. And acting with Gary Cooper made him seem more quick, a bit stronger, his eyes flash! He's less Leslie Howardish, more Clark Gable-ish. This was my favorite movie in the back of my mind for dacades, tho I could not find it again. And now that I have, I see why I loved it so much in 1974!
I love the menage a trois! Would that a girl could be this lucky!
Gary Cooper would be the only man for me. As far as I'm concerned there was no choice.
shareAgreed. I would go with Tom.
shareAlix1929 says > Who Would You Choose?First of all, the question posed by the OP, 'who would you choose', is ridiculous. That's the whole point of the movie. She could not choose and did not want to one or the other. She loved them both but in different ways. If she chose one over the other she would long for the qualities the other possessed and the one she chose lacked.
genplant29 says > Tom, since you could have a falling out with him and he, unlike George, would be unlikely to break things. lolI don't think you get it. Gilda may not have wanted George to smash furniture but she knew he was prone to that when he was upset. That's one of the things she liked about him, his passion and wild untamed ways. Tom was more diplomatic and stable but he lacked the passion George had.
Tom (Fredric March) was nicer, but George (Gary Cooper) was better looking lol
shareIf I was a woman I would choose Frederic March. Alas, I am not a woman.
shareTom - mostly because Gary Cooper is not attractive at all, but also because he was nicer overall.
Everybody betray me! I fed up with this wurhld!
I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so...
I looked for the diacritical marks telling us you're kidding/sarcastic.
Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman, Elvis Presley, and the hideous Grace Kelly all got famous with their family connections.
