Musical in a Blender?

Just when I thought they could not put more into this mixed up musical
with SEXY Crawford and Gable and smoothie Franchot, in come the
Three Stooges (with lovable Ted Healy), Sgt. York's mom, a fresh-
faced Astaire, and some really awful songs about beer, here comes an unbelievable
finale which reminded me in so many, many ways of the broadway show,
The Producers. Think about it, Bavarian costumes, a chorus line of
old ladies with canes, the "outed" knight...just a hoot. And really,
nobody ever wore a bathing cap like Miss Crawford!!

oops... Grandma was May Robson, my mistake, but so
screwball I thought it was Miss Wycherly!

everything but the kitchen sink. she looked great in her 20's.

She certainly was attractive and brought a lot of freedom and fire to her early roles. I liked her before she developed the Joan Crawford look: dark, heavy eyebrows, red lips, constructed hair and some rather stiff performances. I prefer the young Joan of Dancing Lady and Grand Hotel.

I agree .. Some people wouldn't be able to guess that this was the same Joan Crawford , unless they had seen pictures of her this young ... She was breath taking .. Sadly , she seemed to lose her looks as she aged .

As a man, I have never cared much for the 1920s and early 1930s styles of women's makeup, with the plucked eyebrows and all. However, on Joan Crawford those styles really worked. Man, was she a knockout! While the 40s and 50s makeup styles looked great on many women, I think it was likely those later styles, more than her aging, that gave Joan Crawford the look we have become familiar with. In her early films she is hauntingly beautiful.
