Untypical Stooges
Larry plays the rehearsal pianist, Moe and Curly play stagehands. As such, the 3 Stooges only get together for a couple of knockabout scenes in this movie--the rest of the time it's either Moe and Curly providing their usual knockabout comic relief in the background, or Larry interacting with other cast members.
Also Larry had his hair brushed down and back for a more normal look, and for the most he part played his part 'straight'--it's probably the closest he ever came to playing a character with some resemblance to an actual human being!
As for Ted Healy, his character also has limited interaction with the Stooges, and it probably works to his benefit; he's actually pretty good in his role--the best I've seen from him. (Some years back I saw a compilation of very early pre-Columbia Stooges shorts. I recall that the audience, including myself, became very impatient with Healy getting in the way of the Stooges clowning--he just wasn't very funny.)
