Most of the celebrity cast were wasted in this!

They wore masks so that you hardly recognised them, and the performances felt very rote. A basic touring company performance would have worked just as well for this.

I am - SUPERFLUOUS!!!

It worked extraordinarily well because they put themselves at the story's service, and not the other way around. Unless your idea of good all-star cast use is the 1985 version in which we got things like Sammy Davis Jr. RAPPING "You are Old, Father William". They usually want their minute of glory and their persona to show up, to the detriment of the whole.

For that very reason I'm always skeptical about all-star casts and feared the worst about this version. Ended up loving it.

This is not my signature. This is IMDb's automatic translation of my signature.

True the emphisis of this film was the character designs sticking to the original John Tenniel illustrations and the events in the books

Oh GOOD!,my dog found the chainsaw

They took following the illustrations too far and should have designed the costumes around the actors.

What is the point of putting Cary Grant in a big Turtle Suit and have him speak in such a high register/unknown accent that you can't even tell its him?
If I was Grant, I guess I wouldn't want to be recognised either.

It could have been anybody in that suit and not made one iota of difference.

There's nothing quite as lovely as the glow of a burning book.

I mainly wanted to see this to get all the cameos of a great cast. I have to agree that they were wasted.

See I think that was part of the brilliance that you couldn't see who it was; it makes it more surreal to me.
