Dunkers, High and Low

Loved the way Lubitsch showed both ladies sneaking discrete dunks of their respective croissants, when no one, other than the audience, was looking.

Red Buttons would have had something to say about that.

I don't get the Red Buttons reference. I don't see many of his movies. Would he have been for or against dunking?

In regards to dunking, it's perfectly acceptable in some cultures. The movie is set in Europe so I don't think they needed to sneak a dunk. Some even drink out of bowls rather than cups to facilitate dunking.

Red Buttons was famous for his Dunking Donut skit...he would ask the pro's and con's of dunking while performing different dunks.

Oh yeah, I do recall seeing a Michael Richards tribute to Skelton on TCM. He said Skelton was a big influence on him. He talked about that skit and his other works while clips of Skelton's various movies and shows appear on the screen. I just saw it again today after watching a TCM movie I had on DVR.

I've never been a fan of Skelton's type of humor but now I'd like to see the full skit. I doubt I'll find it funny but you've sparked my curiosity. Thanks for mentioning it and for responding to my query!
