Any advice about Sound in this film?

Hi, does anyone know of any good resources to find out more about the sound production aspects of this film? or maybe films from this era (early 30's)? IMDB shows that William Snyder was the engineer, but i'd like to know more.

any advice greatly appreciated, as i'm trying to compare the sound production techniques between this and the remake.
