82 years and the issues are pretty much the same.
53 minutes in: An awareness of media generated panic, gun and drug control, white slavery, same issues, same vehement passion. Plus bonus inflammatory intro. Propaganda or idealized expression?
When you think about how the government had a commission that used to "ok" everything before it aired,( and who really knows what gets nixed now, even though it's the U.S., we think it's "free") you have to wonder about the spin. But you also MUST put all of that within the sociological, cultural context of the time. Post WW1, WW2 simmering in the pot.
I have no real opinion, just a sort of sadness. Just making an observation and throwing it out there for discussion. Be gentle with each other...
We've all probably heard the term "white slavery," but how many of us know what it REALLY was? Google it! Amazing that this was one of the big CURRENT issue 82 years ago. My Dad is 85. One of my best friends is almost 96.
It's not so distant in the past as we might like to think. I often feel history makes be about to repeat itself, maybe not in such a good way.
