Snitz Edwards- A memorable actor

Not many people would recognize the name of the grumpy little man who is Putty Nose's friend and associate, from the early days of the "Boys club", to the bootlegging days of Prohibition. But who can forget the scene of this guy telephoning Schemer Burns, to tip him off where Paddy Ryan's gang are holed up?

Snitz Edwards appears in at least two memorable silent films that I'm aware of. He plays a timid innkeeper harassed by Sergeant Gonzales in The Mark of Zorro ( 1920) and a stage hand murdered by the Phantom, when he gets a little too nosy about the Opera Ghost's secrets in The Phantom of the Opera (1925). I don't recall ever seeing him in anything else, but who knows?

And when he crossed the bridge, the phantoms came to meet him

Excuse the late reply, but I just saw The Public Enemy last night. Edwards is also in a few Buster Keaton films. I specifically remember him in Seven Chances as the lawyer who informs Keaton he has until 7 PM to marry, and he tags along to help. He actually has a decent-size part, and is very funny. I think he's in a few of Keaton's shorts as well, but I don't recall which.
