sharelooks like a Rolls Royce to me.
not sure which model...maybe a Silver Ghost??
Can't be a Silver Ghost, it was originally built in 1906. Also if it's a Rolls Royce then it makes Cagney's comment about it being a Ford pointless. All I know is that it's a Ford circa 1930.

I think he said something like "that aint no ford its got gears" so im certain it wasnt a ford.
"I like the stink of the streets. It cleans out my lungs. And it gives me a hard-on."
The car was a Packard, once the equivalent of a Rolls and very popular with gangsters. See http://www.packardclub.org/
shareThe "it's not a Ford" remark refers to the Model T. That car had a "planetary gear" transmission that didn't have a clutch pedal.
The Packard had the more common type of manual transmission and, of course, with that it is possible to damage the gears if you try to shift it without pushing in the clutch. When the valet tries to get the car moving, Tom can hear the gears clashing, which is why he rebukes the guy for not being careful with his vehicle.
