The gun shop scene

Near the end of this movie, there is a scene in which James Cagney robs a gun shop with the exact gun and ammunition that the owner hands him for a demonstration.
I feel that I have seen this scene quite often in different movies over the years. The Terminator has it, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly has it, too. But I think I saw it even more often in other films.
Was The Public Enemy the first film to use that scene? Do you know other movies that have a similar sequences?

Steve McQueen in THE GETAWAY has a similar scene -- though he just acquires the weapons in a brusque manner, I think.

I just posted about this in another thread, and I'm sure Sergio Leone and others were influenced by this scene.

And if you've ever seen the Public Enemy trailer, its very alike the opening credits of Sergio Leone's Man With No Name trilogy with the credits of the stars names being shot at. :)
