So Cagney gets raped?

This movie was pre-code, I understand, and I dont' think the scene with Paddy's girlfriend and Cagney would have made it into a picture 10 years later, but I just want to be sure:

She gets him drunk, then forces herself on him, and they have sex. The next morning, he barely remembers the incident, until she teases him, and then he is disgusted with himself. Have I got it right?

Why did Paddy's GF do this? Was she instructed to sleep with 'the boys?' Didn't she fear the reprisal of her gangster boyfriend>?

Pretty much. There is so much in this film that is brave, and that sequence really ranks up there. Not many gangster movies would show the protagonist in such a vulnerable light - and without compromising his brutality.
