Sopranos Reference

Nice touch to see the main character in a "gangster" genre 70years later paying homage in the manner in which it was done at the start of the third series of the show .

I for one was well impressed

Long live Tom Powers ............... not forgetting Rico either !!!!!

I thought Junior shoving a meringue in his girlfriend's face was also a tribute to the grapefruit scene... and such a great character thing for Junior to do. It would have been the most insulting gesture he would know to a woman he felt had disrespected him.

Very interesting point! I never thought of the connection with the Public Enemy grapefruit scene and Junior's scene with Bobbie in Sopranos.

Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: There's an old Italian saying: you *beep* up once, you lose two teeth.

I watched all the Sopranos but don't recall what you are referring to. I know what others are mentioning about Uncle Jun putting the cake in the face of the woman because she blabbed to others about a "unspoken" oral sex technique he would employ. But what are you referring to?

Its been 4 years since I saw it at this stage but I do remember Tony sitting down on his own in his home watching Cagney in The Public Enemy and really enjoying it . nothing major really , just thought it was a nice touch at the time . HArd to believe Gandolfini no longer with us now

I love how Tony get's upset about the portrayal of the mother's relationship with her son Tom Powers in The Public Enemy, the complete opposite of Tony's relationship with Livia. A really poignant and personal moment for Tony.

Anthony 'AJ' Soprano Jnr. - "Drum solo!? It's the basic 4'4"

reply

It was a major theme through an entire episode.
