Why this Movie Deserves To Be Higher; 41% gave it a 10

this movie deserves to be much higer I think. 41% of voters gave it a 10! thats quite a lot. It is only lower cuz some idiots, it looks like mostly the under 18 female crowd, gave it a 1 so the 1 is like almost 3% which is fairly high by most standards. Just Makes no sense to me. As for my favorite Chaplin, Modern Times may have been funnier, but the story in this one was more touching. Gold Rush very funny too. Haven't seen the Kid yet.

It's a true masterpiece this one and the boxing scene ...
well it's just unbelievable funny.

I can't believe over 300 people gave this movie a 1; they must hate life. This is one of my favorite Chaplin films but I haven't seen many.

Well, 67.7% of voters gave "Turkish Star Wars" a 10, and 16.2% gave it a 1. This has little relevance to this discussion, but it's an interesting fact nevertheless. ;) (I gave it a 9)

I think people have developed too little patience for silent films and, to some extent, even black and white films. The problem is that as movies have progressed, so have people's expectations. The average film viewer sees a movie as a way to pass two hours, maybe have a cry or more hopefully a laugh, but in the end, they think of it as entertainment, not art or literature.

Votes from people who probably didn't even watch the film, in a pathetic attempt to get it down in the ranking. Hoping to get their own pathetic favorite in the Top-250.
Actually I think it should be possible to detect those manipulative voters and ignore all of their votes.

Sometimes it's okay to give 1s to overrated movies/Shyamalan movies/(random word) movies. But with Chaplin?!

I wish they still make movies like this instead of Hollywood ADHD crap.

City Lights 10/10
