One Scene Was re-shot 342 times!!!!

From IMDb Trivia:

Charles Chaplin re-shot the scene in which the Little Tramp buys a flower from the blind flower-girl 342 times, as he could not find a satisfactory way of showing that the blind flower-girl thought that the mute tramp was wealthy.

The clearly shows how strongly dedicated he was to the craft of film making.

The more I study it, the greater the puzzle becomes.

In the movie "Chaplin", he talks about how he can't figure out how to make the blind girl know that he's rich. This is a problem considering the whole plot revolves around it. Then he came up with the idea of having her hear the car door slam, and she'd figure out he must be rich. I wonder how many takes he did before coming up with the idea. (Even so, it didn't seem obvious to me that she'd figure he was rich because of a car door being shut.)

Mirror inspector is a job I could really see myself doing.
