What a great movie! Mary works for a man but she's the brains behind the man. The men are incredibly sexist--there's the idiot calling every female "Girlie," to the guy who flirts with her big time at a party pretending to be single, poor, and wanting to be a writer--when really, he's rich, married and has 2 kids! And Mary's cigarette is checked to see if she's smoking hashish! The guys turn out not to be so bad however,

It's not politically correct, but it's fascinating! The actor playing the old guy sure seems to be the same one who played the "wienie king" in The Palm Beach Story--but he's the spitting image.... When he has to quit on doctor's orders, no one considers the woman who has been doing the job--they try to choose between the men who couldn't do the job without Mary's help. The "Girlie" guy gets the job....

Mary plays such a bright woman who asks the new boss for a deal for helping him, and there's game-playing equal to anything 21st century. This is a great movie! Pre-code, bright and mature. Interesting thing with the sales tag for lingerie. And some people who stepped right out of a Republican donor's reception--"Trouble's something poor people have when the rent's due!"

The president of the company learns his lesson tho, in typical chauvinist fashion, but Mary gets her raise (never the job she deserves tho....) and he gets the right girl in the end....but not before one woman nearly ruins his chances and another gets revenge worthy of the girlfriend of a pro football player! Loved it!
