What a way to begin a career. She was one of the best. I've heard this was the first German "talkie." Can anyone confirm this?

In reality, Marlene Dietrich had already appeared in several silent films in Germany prior to "Der blaue Engel", but it is the film which offered her a springboard to Hollywood and the world. And true, it is the first German "Tonfilm" of note.
