What an Odd Film

This one is nearly expressionist at times and there are a lot of very memorable images and moments. At a couple of points I was reminded of Mabuse... And there are some bits of brutality, particularly by the police, that seem like we are seeing a film that is about ambiguity, or the abuse of authority. But, really the whole point appears to be that the good guys get to do whatever they want as long as it works - the bad guys are just that bad.

So, well worth seeing, despite problems with the sound and a few rather painful performances, but not a timeless classic.
