I want to wrap the poor guy in a blanket!

In the scene where he's saying goodbye to Sally after getting drenched in the rumble seat, you can see his breath, and he's shivering violently. I just want to wrap him in a blanket, put him in front of a fireplace, and bring him a mug of hot soup.

Where the heck did they film that, for him to be so cold?

reply

Agreed, I was thinking pneumonia. Without knowing I would guess this was one of the scenes shot in NY, not California.

reply

His wife Eleanor said she didn't worry about Buster injuring himself trying to do stunts. She worried about him catching pneumonia from letting himself get so constantly cold and wet. But lucky Eleanor DID get to warm him up herself afterward!

reply

LOL too true too true! The lucky girl.

reply

The only thing controlling my excessive envy is Eleanor's even more excessive worthiness.

reply

My appreciation for all Eleanor was to Buster is why my Buster fantasies are all chaste. Even in my fantasies I wouldn't THINK of infringing on Eleanor's territory! He was hers.

reply

Well, he was hers after they met, anyway, and she certainly did everything possible to promote and preserve his legacy.

"But lucky [his wife] Eleanor DID get to warm him up herself afterward..."

That's not what I read.
She slept with him less than my . . . um, well, nevermind . . .

Me, too - only *I'd* want to wrap myself around Buster first, THEN the blanket!!

And did you notice, he stopped shivering the minute Sally kissed him? You can see he's all warm inside as he turns away to walk back into the rain. Just beautiful. (Better than 'Singing in the Rain', I think.)

Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

reply

Yes, I too noticed that he stopped shivering after Sally's kiss. And also thought of "Singing in the Rain".

reply

He even runs into a cop!
