I saw "Wings" on the Turner Channel about two months ago http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=504086 and recorded it on my DVD player. I'm glad I did, because although this movie will come around again on Turner, who knows when? It may be years. Anyway, check Turner as a possible source, they do sell a lot of movies there. I regard Wings as one of Wellman's best flics. It was in that movie that he invented the first traveling camera shot ever used in movies, which was that hilarious moment in the Folies Berger, when the Clara Bow character goes looking for her old boyfriend (who is completely smashed on champaign) and the camera moves across three tables to his, quickly passing between the occupants - two lovers having a spat, a rather amorous lesbian couple tenderly caressing, and two somewhat shocked Paris nightclubbers (shocked by the lesbians, that is! No wonder they called it. "Gay Paris" !) This is the first Clara Bow picture I ever saw, as well, and I was very impressed. She was much better than all that "It Girl" nonsense would lead a person to believe. In fact I would say, a natural actress.
Sorry I couldn't help more.
Aloha!
I just got it on VHS! I will watch it soon and then I will have seen all the Best Picture winners!
My three favorite films (order changes): Vertigo, Taxi Driver, and 2001: A Space Odyssey
