Just got back from the Paramount Theatre screening

Absolutely incredible! Leonard Maltin was there, and many other famous people. If you are in town, you must see it.

I was there too! Unquestionably one of the most memorable cinematic experiences of my life. The film had me in awe throughout with its breathtaking cinematic impressionism and overall scope, but when those screens opened up at the end, I nearly lost it. In my opinion, finales don't get much more sublime than that.

P.S. I also have to give a huge round of applause to Carl Davis and his orchestra for their musical contributions. I thought the score enhanced the visuals beautifully as well as being exquisitely realized on its own terms.

Who else did you see? I just got back from Sunday's screening and saw "Star Wars"/"Indiana Jones" sound designer Ben Burtt there.

Quite an extraordinary film and a wonderful evening!

It was excellent, But I liked the 1983 screening at the Paramount even more. I liked that score better, and both the symphony and the Paramount organ were used. The newer version lacked some scenes I remembered from the first. Eldridge Cleaver was there.
