See 'The Watermelon Man'

I watched "The Jazz Singer" last night and the blackface reminded me of the movie "The Watermelon Man" (1970). It's the same thing as blackface, only in reverse.

And someone's idea that blackface wasn't a convention of the times and not consciously racist is ridiculous. Ask a black person (i.e. read a testimony) from that time if it was racist or not. Or, better still, ask a fat person today how he/she feels about somebody wearing a fatsuit.

I'm fat and I don't care if somebody wears a fatsuit. Sometimes its required especially if the character needs to yo-yo in weight or if weight gain will spoil upcoming roles. Guess I'm just not sensitive enough.

No, what you just said is ridiculous. It WAS a convention of the times, and often it was consciously racist, but it often wasn't as well. Your analogy about "fat people" does nothing to support your position. You should read some history and study the differences between good arguments and bad arguments.
