My favorite silent movie yet

I've seen quite a few silent movies over the past year. While I think a lot of them are great, I do have a hard time getting into some of them at first, mainly because I'm not used to that style of film. This one however was not hard to get into at all. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end, and a lot of the stunts are still impressive for today's standards. The acting was surprisingly good too, there weren't any exagerated looking arm waving and wide eyed antics that a lot of other silent movies have. for a silent comedy, the acting was very natural.

To date I have seen quite a few silent films that I have preferred to The General namely The Passion of Joan of Arc, Metropolis, The Gold Rush, The Battleship Potemkin, Greed and Orphans of the Storm.

As far as movie quality goes, Battleship Potemkin was a better movie, but I enjoyed The General more.

The Gold Rush is good too, but for Charlie Chaplin movies, I liked Modern Times and City Lights bettter.

I just saw Metropolis not too long ago, and I think that's one of the best silent movies I've ever seen.

but still, The general is possibly the most entertaining one, along with City Lights.
