For any kid learning the basics of physics, watching The General is a great start. Real-life examples of the laws of physics are illustrated in so many funny ways in this movie. Keaton supposedly said that he wanted to be either an actor or a civil engineer. That comes through in this movie.

Scenes show 3 high-ranking union officers planning war strategy on the bed of the railroad flatcar (a freight train car with no sides or top). The officers in their fancy uniforms stand up and brush off the dust and suddenly topple over as the train suddenly lurches forward or backward. "A body at rest tends to remain at rest; a body in motion tends to stay in motion." Look it up.
