stunt men question
I had a great uncle, Wirt Perrin (1891-1967) who worked in Hollywood as a stunt man, and is rumored to have worked on this film. Does anyone know where I can go to research this further? Thanks.

Thanks for writing. I don't really know. A family member says that he did stunt double work for Norma Shearer, but I have not been able to confirm that either. I don't know much about his work, except that he was short, and coming from rural Texas, could ride a horse well. Thanks, again.

Glad someone out there IS interested. Sadly I never met him, I didn't know much about my grandmother's family. I also never met Wirt's son, Jack Norman, but I did meet one of Jack's ex wives. She may have some of the old movie memorabilia, but she wasn't very forthcoming. I have also talked with Jack Jr on the phone, and he emailed me a picture of Wirt. He doesn't seem to have any movie stuff. We have a website, www.geocities.com/familyperrin, if you want to see his picture. You can find it in either the name index or the site map.

I'd just like to get some verification from another source first. I'll keep digging. Thanks!

No I never did. We continue to research the family, but haven't found any of his movie memorabilia. We hope some of it has been saved by a couple people, but this family is kinda hard to get to talk. Weird.... I appreciate you asking.
By the way, have you see No Country for Old Men? I'm the chicken farmer towards the end.
Hi,
I worked in Hollywood mainly as an extra for many years. I also did some small acting roles. I did stunts in two movies. I belong to SAG and AFTRA and I used to belong to Screen Extras Guild when it existed. I also am in the Musicians Union. I mention this because each union does have records of its members. I do not know how far back the records go. You could check with Screen Actor's Guild to see if he belonged to that. It is quite possible at that time they used non union stunt people. If they did, I would suggest searching rodeo organizations. Most of the Hollywood trick riders were from rodeo performers of the time.
Also if he worked much in Hollywood you might be able to find some records of him through Central Casting which still operates in Burbank. It was not uncommon for actors to do extra work in the off seasons. If you want help researching what happened way back then you probably could get assistance from any historical society or newspaper writer or aspiring sleuth or writer.
Good luck.

Thanks, Tom, I appreciate it. We'll follow up on your suggestions.
