Carl Davis reprising KING DAVID in his score.

Anyone remember the majestic score Carl Davis gave the Richard Gere movie KING DAVID (1985)? Well, Davis gave a nod to it when he composed the score for the Thames/Turner Entertainment version of BEN-HUR: A TALE OF THE CHRIST (1925). In the Nativity prologue, there is a scene of Joseph and Mary being escorted to a small cave (because there was no room for the Inn). Via a title card, the innkeeper informs them that King David once kept his flock of sheep in this cavern.
Well, for this scene, Davis reprises a piece from KING DAVID. One can hear the instrumental to 'The Lord is My Shepherd...' recreated here, down to the haunting harp chords.
This piece was included in the Silent BEN-HUR Original Soundtrack CD (the Thames/Turner version is also available on VHS and in the '59 BEN-HUR: 4-DISC COLLECTORS DVD). Sadly, it's the closest we'll ever get to a soundtrack of KING DAVID.
