Maybe he was misinformed and read something wrong? The current votes needed for a film to be eligible to appear in the top 250 is 25,000. Right now, this movie has 25,449 votes. I just voted today, so my vote hasn't been added to that number yet. This film still needs at least 50 votes. Hopefully, the film will reach that amount of votes so it can be included on the top 250 list.

shareI miss the days of the old top 250 where not as many votes were needed and more obscure films would be on the list to open interest for those who have never seen or hear of a certain movie.
shareI'm less than two years IMDb member, so I don't recall those old days, but they obviously made more sense. And the reason you've mentioned is exactly why I like it better. Now a lot of modern movies easily get on top 250 list and since they're there more and more people will watch them and there is NO WAY for the audience to discover older but not so commercialized movies.
shareIf you joined two years ago, then it was around the time it changed. It used to be a 3,000 vote minimum and it jumped dramatically to 25,000!
