The visuals and influence on the horror genre lead me to give it a 7/10

The plot itself I find a bit meh. Hard for me to divorce myself from more modern-filmmaking. I'll watch it again at some point.

Really? I thought the plot was quite good. Considering that film was still at its beginning and people were experimenting a lot. The visuals I find absolutely stunning, every scene was like a masterpiece itself

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari isn't a bad film, in my opinion, but the story is underwhelming and probably not told as well as it could've been. Yes, the sets and visuals are phenomenal, but plot is sometimes static, if I recall correctly. For entertainment value, I'd give it a 6/10. There are other silent movies out there that are far superior, like Metropolis, Un Chien Andalou, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, The Battleship Potemkin, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, Roundhay Garden Scene, The Artist, etc. That being said, I haven't seen in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari in years. Maybe my opinion on it has changed.

Roundhay Garden Scene

Surely you jest, Shirley. Have you actually seen it?

As for Caligari, the storytelling was tedious to say the least and the story itself was nonsensical and naive.
Background sets were unique no doubt and I liked the twist ending.

I'm having inner debate between 5 and 6...
