$4,000 of that came from someone who had previously donated (friend? family?), so there's a vested interest in seeing this through.

I see no dollar amounts from anybody on there. All it shows are "cash pledges" with no dollar amounts. Anyway, I've been on the internet now for over 20 years and I know some stuff. And I know a lot of campaigns get artificial pledges in order to entice real people to pledge real money. Then the artificial pledges get deleted on the last day of the campaign. It's just a smoke screen to try to get real donations. But people are going to believe what they want.
