The simple reason I do not care for Ilhan Omar's politics

It is nothing more than she has a horrible image that repulses a lot
of American voters.

One of the ways the Democrats lose so many elections is that right before elections they either highlight people like Omar.

And I don't really mean that she is far-Left, because AOC is far Left but she got re-elected and is popular.

And I don't really mean that she is Muslim, because Rashida Talib is far Muslim but she got re-elected and is popular as well.

In the spirit of the truism perception is reality, when the perception of Ilhan Omar is so bad, we on the Left ought to be as rigorous on our unpopular activists as we expect the Right to be with people like Roy Moore.

And, no I don't equate the two people in terms of their negatives, just that they both have them and the people ought not have to suffer because they tar the whole party with a kind of repulsively that can keep people from voting.

But, even on the issues that she is unpopular for, her perceived radical Islam, or her weird family relationships, or citizenship status, or her one-sided blanket support of the Palestinians ( this actually goes for Tlaib ( not sure how to spell that one ) too )

Have you noticed how if the Republicans don't get the Democrats by a certain time, that they Democrats seemed determined to do the job on themselves. They will start marrying gay people, something that was unpopular in 2000 and 2004 can could have been one of the many factors that pushed the election away from victory for Gore.

And now we have had the framing of the race switched in ALL the media from Health Care and the Coronavirus to this racism and attacks by the police.

By a long shot the Health Care issue has far more support, even Joe Biden virtually came out for Medicare For All today. The racism thing is something Trump is manipulating the media on. This is how they do it.

We need to set our priorities and pursue them and not go off on tangents just yet. The police problem is on the way to being solved, so if there are more provocations what are the chances of who is doing it. Corporate Democrats or Republican Dirty Tricksters?

Omar is promoted by Trump and the Right. She has her opinions on Palestine and Israel as does some other non-Jewish Democrats but you don't see them gaslighted by the Rightwing. Why is that?

I'm specifically referring to Betty McCollum

Not sure I know what you are saying. You are contending that Omar is bought and paid for by Trump and the Right?

What do you mean about them being gaslit by the Rightwing?

To me Israel is a distractive issue, one of the wedge issues that takes people's mind off this election is primarily about living wage, medicare for all, and education - and how all of those interact with COVID-19 right now in real time.

Now, all of a sudden we have Trump firing up race as an issue, and talking about other things to take the focus off Republicans corruption.

I'm just pointing out that Omar's criticisms of Israel are not unique and Trump is indeed using her as a focal point for racial derision and xenophobia just like he did with Mexicans in 2016.

However, I don't think it's going to work this time because can't dismiss the protests and the pandemic like he has done with pass transgressions that he has treated as trivial political obstacles.

I hope it doesn't work, but I just do not care for Ilhan Omar because I don't think she is helping anyone, she is too focused on Israel, one small aspect of foreign policy that takes away from her job, and she is not even correct about. She makes the whole Left/Democratic Party look less easy to vote for.

The left wing of the Democratic party are like the right wing of the Republican party. They're a core voting bloc but not a majority. Again, most of what she says has no impact on overall foreign policy anymore than what a junior congressman from the Republican side does.

Look at that asshat and closeted homosexual Matt Gaetz does daily? Yet, most voters this year aren't going to finalize their choice for POTUS based on him.

Exactly, that why she should shut up - because she is not doing herself of her party any good.
