She deserves praise...
for getting Democrats to finally acknowledge that All Lives Matter with their funny little resolution.
sharefor getting Democrats to finally acknowledge that All Lives Matter with their funny little resolution.
shareShe deserves praise for voting for the Resolution and for continuing to work onward through the anti-Muslim blowback.
However: Every single person, every single elected official, has special interests, every single person lobbies their special interests in a multitude of ways (from voting, to directly contacting their elected officials, to donating to and/or volunteer for organizations/ngos/groups that fight for those issues at the local/state/federal level, to promoting their own issues as part of their own careers or activism etc), every single elected official has the job of writing legislation and public policies for countless special interests, every single elected congressional official lobbies those special interests to their own peers in Congress (that's literally their job, fighting for issues = lobbying) and to the President's Administration and the President and their friends within all the departments and agencies and offices responsible for implementing legislation/policies, etc. All issues are special interest issues, all the calls for the government to do something are an act of lobbying, voting is lobbying, donating to candidates is lobbying, supporting any organizations/ngos/activist-groups/etc is lobbying. The fossil fuel industry has a right to lobby just as the clean green energy industry has a right to lobby. All the voices need to be heard.
You cannot get up there and say, "lobbying is corrupt, we need reforms, Israel and American Jews are to blame for all the wars and lack of reform, the US government must boycott, divest, sanction, cut off all aid, shut down the AIPAC, stop listening to Jews" while in the same breath say "Palestinians are my special interest because I am Muslim and sensitive to their situation, the US government must endorse Palestine, remove Jews from Palestine, restore all funding to Palestine, and lend a helping hand to all the pro-Palestinian groups to even things up....". That's not a conversation about lobbying reform nor is it anywhere close to being a legitimate debate about the Israeli/Palestinian issue, it's simply historic antisemitism. She has every right to feel deep allegiance to Palestinian and Muslims issues and to want the US government to endorse that allegiance and take a look at its own record in that area (Trump Administration cancelled all aid to Palestinians.....), she has every right to fight for that, that's likely a major reason why she won, she represents that voice like no other candidate, but she and all the people defending her are lobbying the US government to do the opposite with regards to the other side. You can't say "lobbying is wrong and we need to shut out the Jewish voice and f!kh Israel" while lobbying the government to embrace the Palestinian voice. All the voices for all the issues need to be both deeply regulated and deeply heard.
When you tweet like she did about Israel that play directly into Jewish tropes that historically have been used to persecute them and then criticize Jewish Americans for exercising their right to participate in American politics through AIPAC, you're kind of antisemitic.
I don't completely dislike her but she is by her very own words/and definition, a CRIMINAL. Just because the courts have no balls to convict a Left Wing Muslim congress critter doesn't mean she isn't GUILTY.
shareI think she deserves praise to basically forcing Democrats to admit that it's a party of Jew-haters
