Some corporations made a lot of money, but It helped destroy American working class, it made America indebted to China. It turned China into a superpower which will soon rival the US (if not already). They thought trading with China will help it liberalize which didn't happen. China is just as totalitarian as it was, if not even more so.

shareIf there is any 'good' side, it did improve the lives of children in China. There is still child labor but those children don't have to live in the absolute squalor they did previously, they have more options.
Especially in cases where their parents are making enough money that their children don't have to work. Those children are going to school and education is going to be really great for moving the country away from communism and over all improving the quality of life on this planet.

shareChina became more Capitalistic as did Russia, but both remain authoritarian.
The American working-class were destroyed by anti-union actions, tax cuts for the rich which created income inequality, and policies which impoverish people like no national healthcare and no protection against high housing costs.
