Why did she change her name?

Why did she change her name?

reply

“This is when I begin writing my own story as Isabela Merced. This has been a very difficult year for my brothers, mom, and me. This is how I say goodbye to that and welcome a new chapter with those who are close to me. Isabela Merced represents everything that has and will continue to define me. It represents the values that were passed on from my grandmother.
“She was a force of nature, unafraid of anything, always ready to take on every challenge and person that said she couldn’t. At the same time, she loved her familia; nothing came before that. Her ideal day would be a day at the beach with the family, music, dancing, and eating alitas (chicken wings) or ceviche. This is me! I hope this continues on my grandmother’s legacy because she left us too soon.”

In the interview she seems to go a little more in-depth about it.

She can call herself whatever she wants as long as she gets stark naked in an upcoming film soon. She can’t star in kid friendly movies forever.

reply

That comment is really creepy.

She could make her niche doing family movies, and even if she doesn't she doesn't have to get naked.

reply

Creepy why? Nudity is the most natural thing in the world. And most of the Oscar nominated and winning actresses since 1970 have been nude in films. So why shouldn’t she? Unless she’s fine not being considered a mature professional actress.

reply

First of all, because a mature, professional actress doesn't need to get naked - that's a strange standard to have. I've seen many actors perform in big, heavy-hitting roles where they didn't get naked at all and I still took them seriously. I don't need to know that an actor has appeared nude at least once before I take them seriously.

Second, because the naturalness of nudity as a pre-civilization state is, sure, a good point maybe about how prudish society was being, but that's not how your comment presents. Your comment was about ogling flesh. I'm not saying that desire is not a natural inclination either (it is), but there is a point where that desire becomes creepy. You saying you wanted the actor from the Dora movie to hurry up and get naked is creepy.

reply

Name one A list actress that hasn’t been nude in films.

reply

That's irrelevant to my point.

"...a mature, professional actress doesn't need to get naked..."
"I don't need to know that an actor has appeared nude...before I take them seriously."

It doesn't matter if most actresses do a nude scene. It doesn't matter if there is a minority who haven't. It doesn't matter if they're A, B, C, D, or F list.

I said professional and I said whether or not I can take them seriously. None of this had anything to do with popularity, either. Mature and professional doesn't necessarily mean "A-list".

Furthermore, that comment about wanting to see Merced naked was still creepy.

He doesn't care about her status as an actress. Acting, professionalism, and maturity are obviously irrelevant to him.

Super-creepy.
