Athelstan
I would love to see Athelstan come as visions to Ragnar so Floki can continue to be driven crazy by Athelstan. Please let him come back in this way!! He's one of my favorites and they made such a great team!

shareI miss watching Athelstan! His prescence in the story was captivating and a great bridge between the Vikings and western culture.
Vikings is not the same without him. Ragnor and Athlestans relationship was complex, beautiful and is missing. In spite of the flaws in his character, Athelstan was fundamentally a gentle, kind soul who completed Ragnor.
In the gentle fall of rain from heaven, I hear my God. But in the thunder, I still hear Thor
It was the best thing about the show> Ticked me off how Ragnar did not want to punish Floki.
shareOnly just got into Vikings and love the Athelstan/Ragnar dynamic.

Never trusted Floki.
Love George Blagden in Versailles too.

Thanks for sharing these links, love the actor's work!
shareI was very sad at his demise. He seemed to humanize all the characters--except of course, Floki. And he was quite beautiful.
shareHis demise was such a mistake. He completed the dynamic and created the opportunity to demonstrate the battle of accepting other belief systems and integration into a shared society. His relationship with Ragnar was beautiful and he brought a gentleness to the show that was at odds, yet worked well with the constant aggression and bloodshed of the Vikings.
I am not happy with the path they're taking Floki down either. While in the early seasons he was perhaps a "Viking Sheldon", with elements of good and bad tied up in innocence and mischief (as with Loki) it seems now that they're only focussing on his inner demons and losing the opportunity to show him as a multi-faceted character instead of the new one-dimensional version.
