How did this scrawny kid get to be so big and popular?
No way is he Spider-Man, and in no way is he deserving of his other roles.
Who paved the way for his success? His family must have lots of connections.

he sucks.
shareI didn't mind him as a supporting actor but when he was the star in his own films I grew tired of him fast. Same as the previous guy who played Spider-Man, who I think was even worse. So far, Tobey Maguire is the only actor I like in the role.
shareHe has a background in dance and acrobatics so he fits the body type and can move right for the character. He was also really good in The Impossible as a kid so he has the acting chops. Why hate on him? It just comes off as jealousy and pettiness.
shareThis scrawny kid can probably legit kick your ass. Search youtube for his vids... dance, parkour, martial arts... it's pretty damn impressive.
Honestly, I was shocked how athletic he is cuz, yeah, he does look scrawny at a glance. Apparently, he nailed his Spider-Man audition when he walked in and pulled off a backward somersault with no effort.
On the acting front, he keeps getting Marty McFly roles. (his Michael J Fox/ McFly impression in his first Spider-Man appearance was pretty spot on btw.) He just needs to take on a darker role like Elijah Wood did when he played the psycho in Sin City after a career of similar boy-ish roles.
Tiny size 5'6" 135lb, they are not good fighters. In professional fighting the little guys are protected from being killed with weight divisions. Any 6'4 tradesman could crush his skull with the palm of their hand.
shareHe may be relatively short, but he's not really scrawny. He has a shirtless scene in Chaos Walking and it's obvious he's been putting in the gym time.
He'll never look like Thor but he's in pretty damn good shape.
Private schooling and getting the opportunity to perform in large musicals since the age of 9. But sounds like you just made bad choices.
